SOL National Conference
ABINGTON 3, PENNSBURY 1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-16, 25-14)
Abington earned an impressive road win over the Falcons.
The Ghosts were led by Sam Miller with 11 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Zach Miller added another seven kills and Myles Winegrad had five kills. Leo Presta contributed 20 assists and two kills. Bryce Lexow, Sebastian Skenderi and Xavier Voit had two blocks apiece. Sean Dougherty had 16 digs and Patrick McBride added five digs.
For the Falcons, setter Jake Bucksar had one kill, 23 assists and one dig. Nathan Sadley and Patrick Miller led the Falcons with eight kills each. Sadley also had three digs and a block while Miller added six digs. Mark Elton added six kills and two digs. Brady Burgfechtel led the defense with seven digs to go along with one ace. Brian Drewes (one ace, one dig), Arush Shroff (one kill, two aces, two digs, one block), Grant MacElroy (one block) and Evan Brown (one kills) also contributed.
The Ghosts play Council Rock North on Tuesday.
NESHAMINY 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-22)
The visiting Redskins once again used a balanced attack to earn a sweep of the Panthers.
Ben Clendening (seven kills, three blocks), Kieran Edwards (seven kills, one block) and Paul Allen (four kills, one block, five digs) led the way at the net. Setter Nick Storz had 19 assists to go along with two kills, one ace and a team high 15 digs. Jesse Kovaschetz (one ace, one assist) and Josh Hamilton (two kills) also had double-digit kills with 13 and 10 respectively. Also contributing were Stephen Fario (one ace, eight digs), John Nice (two kills, two blocks) and Aaron Benjamin (one ace) also made contributions.
SOL American Conference
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-21)
The Rams received contributions up and down their lineup in Thursday’s sweep of the Titans to up their record to 7-2.
Ryan Benscoter (11 kills, two blocks), Tyler Johnson (seven kills) and Bryce Muller (six kills, three blocks, three aces) led the Rams at the net. Setter Riley Kodidek had 27 assists. Also contributing were Thomas McKinney (three kills, four digs), Skyler Ammon (two kills, four digs, four aces) and Dan Detweiler (five digs) also contributed.
For the Titans, Senior Vladyslav Bordia had a big night and led the team both offensively and defensively (2 aces, 7 kills, a block, and 9 digs). Senior setter Garrett MacClay spread the ball around and finished with 12 assists, 2 blocks and 3 digs. Senior Robert Coleman had a good night also with 5 kills, 1 block, 8 digs and was one of our leaders in serve receive tonight.
SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST (25-22, 25-23, 25-20)
The visiting Indians earned a sweep of the Patriots, maintaining their stronghold on second place in the conference standings with neighboring Pennridge.
“We were led by sophomore setter Nate Brown, who controlled the pace of the game and made some incredible plays, tallying 25 assists,” said Souderton coach Luke Pinto, whose team improved to 7-2.
Aidan Wunderly’s 12 kills led the Indians at the net. Tate Kreiser led the defense with 13 digs to go along with four aces. Andrew Brown had six kills, three digs and three aces, and Derek Gilmore had five kills.
Leading the Patriots were Liam Ostrander (two aces, five digs, 18 assists), Trevor Seestedt (one block, one dig, four kills), Josh Lyzinski (two blocks, one dig, six kills), Matt LaBouliere (one ace, 14 digs, nine kills), Aiden Leichter (16 digs), AJ Helveston (two aces, three digs, two kills), Pat Haurin (two digs, two kills) and Steve DiRugeris (one ace, two digs).
UPPER DUBLIN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0
The Flying Cardinals upped their conference record to 9-0 with a sweep of the visiting Panthers.
“Sean Bainbridge had a fantastic defensive game while Trevor Molloy was great on the offensive end again,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “Great energy from the whole team to get the job done.”
In stellar outings, Molloy had 20 kills, two blocks, nine digs and two aces while Bainbridge had 16 digs to lead the defense. He also had two aces and one assist. Setter Spencer Beidner had 41 assists, three aces, two kills and three digs. Sean Seabrook and Sam Moss both had seven digs. Moss had a pair of aces and Seabrook had one ace. Collin Ross added eight kills and one block while David Levin had seven kills, one block and nine digs.
For the Panthers, Micah Reinford had four kills, one ace and six digs, and Zander Marks had three kills, four blocks, two aces and seven digs to lead the way at the net. Jeff Sinsel had two kills and six digs while Andrew Sturgess had two kills and two blocks. Cody Steiert had 12 assists, two kills and one ace. Kurt Glaeser had five digs, Zane Smith had one ace and three digs, and Brett Musselman had two digs.
Wednesday, April 22
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18)
The Patriots won Wednesday’s battle pitting the neighboring schools.
Standouts for East included Aiden Leichter with 19 digs, Liam Ostrander with 25 assists, four aces and three digs, and AJ Helveston with 10 digs and two kills. Steve DiRugeris passed well in serve receive and added a dig. The offense was well balanced as Pat Haurin pitched in three kills, two blocks, one ace and three digs, Matt LaBouliere contributed six kills, nine digs, three aces and three blocks. Josh Lyzinski ended with seven kills, three blocks, and two digs while Trevor Seestedt finished the night with three blocks, and seven kills.
For the Titans, Garrett MacClay had a solid all-around night with 13 assists, two aces, two kills, one block and six digs. Middle hitter Christopher Kline led the offense with five kills, four blocks, two aces, one assist and two digs). Will Tantum’s 15 digs led the defense.
Non-league
BENSALEM 3, HAVERFORD 0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-20)
The Owls upped their winning streak to six games with a sweep of the Fords in a non-league match Wednesday.
Dhruv Patel (30 assists, three kills, two aces) spread the ball around to Tyler Hoang (nine kills), Om Patel (eight kills), Adam Nevrotski (six kills), Luis Rodriguez (four kills) and Dylan Young (three kills, two aces). Harsh Shah (nine digs, four aces) also played well for the Owls, who upped their record to 8-1 on the season.
