On Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, Central Bucks East seniors Gabe Marshall & Jack Hamilton were recognized for committing to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.
Jack Hamilton – Lehigh University (Baseball )
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Lehigh, Georgetown, Dartmouth, Penn
Reasons for choosing Lehigh: “The coaches were great, it’s close to home, and they play in a pretty good baseball conference.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I played both baseball and basketball, and I decided to play whatever sport worked better. In baseball, I had a big jump in velocity the past year. That made baseball jump to the forefront.”
Coach Kyle Dennis says: “Jack Hamilton is a right-handed pitcher. He has put an incredible amount of work in over the past couple of years to make himself better, to make himself stronger. He’s always had height, and he always had a pretty good arm, but he’s really focused on his flexibility and improved his strength training. He’s really seen a jump in velocity. He’s a very even-keeled, mild mannered guy, and there really is no fazing him on the mound. Lehigh is a great place for him. He gets to join Tyler Young, who’s there now, and it’s going to be really cool to go up to see a game and watch a couple of our guys compete at a high level.”

Favorite music: Juice Wrld
Gabe Marshall – Arcadia University (Baseball)
Major: Sports Managements
Final list of colleges: Arcadia, DeSales, Immaculata
Reasons for choosing Arcadia: “I really wanted to stay close to home. I had a South Carolina school talk to me, but I really didn’t want to go far from home. Once I saw Arcadia, I stopped there. It was a nice small school. The facilities were really nice, and it was a nice vibe.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “As long as I can remember, I wanted to play as long as I could. There was a middle point – ninth, 10th grade – where I didn’t think I had what it took, but I just kept trying and got to a point where I realized I was pretty good. Schools started to reach out, and I found a home.”
Coach Kyle Dennis says: “Gabe Marshall is a testament to what hard work can do. A couple years ago I’m not even sure he thought he could play college baseball. He didn’t have the arm strength, and he just devoted himself over the last couple of years to put himself in a position where he could throw harder, and he could impress some people. He is just such a genuine and sincere human being that’s pretty mild mannered, but he’s a competitor, and he pushes himself really hard. He’s the kind of kid to build a mound in his garage to throw bullpens during quarantine. He’s the kind of guy that builds himself a place to compete and work hard, and it’s paid off for him. He’s seen tremendous jumps in velocity, tremendous jump in the movement on his pitches.”
