On Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, Central Bucks West seniors Roman Berretta and Jeremy Tuz were recognized for committing to play baseball at the collegiate level.
Roman Berretta – Albright College (Baseball)
Major: Computer Science possibly Cyber Security.
Final list of colleges: Albright, Cairn, Eastern, Chestnut Hill, Gwynedd Mercy
Reasons for choosing Albright: “The connections with the coaches – I’ve been talking with them the longest out of all the schools. They seemed to really put a team emphasis first. That was something I really liked. They were very diligent keeping in touch with me, and they really just have a great family atmosphere at the school.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I’ve wanted to pursue college baseball since eighth grade. I knew I could really take this seriously. I was coming off a shoulder injury, and it just motivated me to want to get better and play more. It just really showed my love for the game.”
Coach Brian Weaver says: “Roman is an All-American kid. He’s a smart kid, he’s an Eagles Scout, and he’s the type of ballplayer that would work eight days a week if you’d let him. He has gotten better every year, and he’s a highly intelligent player who someday is going to make a good coach because he sees the whole field as good as anyone in the program. This spring, Roman played a reserve role for us and worked some effective at-bats. He played a big role at the plate in our first win over East.
“Roman is the first guy at every workout, he’s the first guy to volunteer for anything that needs help, and he’s a guy you can count on to make the young players better. As a coach, you realize you’re pretty lucky when a kid like him walks through your door. He’s a guy you wish you could coach for 10 years. He’s just an absolute joy to be around.”

Jeremy Tuz – Lebanon Valley College (Baseball)
Major: Biology
Final list of colleges: Lebanon Valley, Delaware Valley, Ithaca
Reasons for choosing Lebanon Valley: “They have a really good after under grad program. I think 100 percent of their bio grads from last year either had graduate school lined up or a job lined up right after college.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I sort of got on the track without realizing I was on the track. When it came time to make the decision about whether or not I would pursue it more, I was all in on it.”
Coach Brian Weaver says: “Jeremy is a guy who is incredibly resilient. He didn’t make the team his sophomore year and came back his junior as big and strong as almost anybody in the program. He worked hard to refine his skills in the field, at the plate and on the mound. As a player in all facets, he’s improved every year, and he’s a guy who would do anything for the team. It just makes him a really great asset.
“Unfortunately, Jeremy got hurt early on but still worked hard and was a great teammate, but it was a crime. He earned his shot.”
