COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0

In a battle of the conference leaders, the Indians earned the sweep to remain undefeated on the season while the Golden Hawks dropped their second match in conference play, both to the Indians.

Senior captain Ashleigh Adams, the Indians’ gifted outside hitter, was unstoppable at the net, slamming down 31 kills to go along with two aces, one block and 26 digs. Junior outside hitter Jordan Ainsley added 13 digs, 11 kills, two aces, two blocks and one assist. Senior captain and setter Kate Logan dished out 41 assists and also had eight digs, one ace and one kill. Senior middle Bella Slough had three kills and two blocks while junior opposite Sophie Lentz contributed two kills, one dig and two blocks. Sophomore libero Emma McNulty had 10 digs, one assist and one ace, and senior setter Becca Wintjen added eight digs and one ace. Senior outside hitter Julia Murphy, junior opposite Ashley Smith and senior defensive specialist Arushi Singh also chipped in defensively with two digs each.

For the Golden Hawks, Edan Kauer (five kills, nine digs, three aces) and Nala Kauer (five kills) led way at the net. Avery Vaughan added four kills, one ace and one block while Sophia Ranieri had three kills and three blocks. Shani Sun (two kills, one ace, four digs) and Mattie Melekos (two kills) also contributed. Lindsey Korn led the defense with 12 digs and one ace while Cadence Palmer had nine digs. Gina Caraccio (eight assists, one kill) and Lili Lauch (eight assists, one ace) split the setting duties.

Council Rock North upped its record to 8-0 in conference play (13-0 overall) while Council Rock South is 6-2 in the SOL (9-3 overall).

 

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-10)

The Panthers earned a sweep of the visiting Owls to even their conference record at 4-4.

“The girls got better as the match went along,” Tennent coach Brian Bassler said. “We played a solid overall game, our setters spread the ball around and were active on defense.

“Freshman Izzy Goebel led the team in digs tonight, which isn’t always ideal, but we had double-digit girls with digs, so everyone was getting off the net and covering one another. The coaches are really proud about how this team has stepped up for one another and come together.”

William Tennent is 4-4 in conference play (8-6 overall). The Owls are 1-6 in conference play and 1-6 overall.

 

SOL Continental

 

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NORTH PENN 1 (13-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17)

In a key conference battle, the Patriots regrouped after dropping the first set to win the next three over the visiting Knights and, as a result, remained atop the conference standings.

“The Patriots had a great team effort after battling injuries the past week and really pulled it together against a strong North Penn squad,” East coach Jackie Curci said.

Junior setter Katie Monaghan led the offense with 27 assists to go along with two kills, three aces, three blocks and 13 digs. Defending the court were senior libero Chloe Mettille with 21 digs, six aces, and three assists and senior defensive specialist Lexi Knorr with two digs and one ace.  Junior hitter Kate Malobisky (outside) contributed eight kills, 10 digs, one block and one ace; junior Samantha Sharp (middle) added 11 blocks and five kills; junior Madelyn Ware (middle) had 11 kills, five blocks and one dig. Senior Emily Curran (middle) contributed two blocks, senior Kat Montabana (rightside) had 12 digs, two blocks, three kills, and one ace, and freshman Mia Mettille (outside) had four kills, two blocks and two digs, 

“We're really happy with the group effort made tonight to bounce back after the first set,” Curci said.”

Central Bucks East improved to 6-1 in conference play (8-4 overall) while North Penn is 5-2 in the league (8-3 overall).

 

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (25-19, 28-26, 25-23)

The visiting Titans received contributions up and down their lineup in their sweep of the Bucks in a battle of neighboring rivals.

Senior setter Shannon Rector handed out 40 assists and also had nine digs while senior libero Rian Grant led the defense with 26 digs and also had one ace, four assists and 26 digs. Senior outside hitter Millie Grove had another big night with 21 kills, two blocks and 11 digs. Junior outside hitter Breckyn Loynd added 10 kills, nine digs and four aces. Senior middle Erin Mangan had seven kills and three blocks, and junior middle Katie Canzanese contributed six kills, two blocks, four digs and one ace. Senior defensive specialist Morgan Schaefer added 18 digs and one ace.

Central Bucks South improved to 5-3 in conference play (8-6 overall) while the Bucks are 3-3 in league play (5-9 overall).

 

SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-9, 27-25, 25-9)

The visiting Indians rolled to a sweep of the Panthers.

Alyssa Reiner’s 14 kills led the Indians at the net. She also had three aces and two digs. Setter Nikki Hamilton had 19 assists, five aces and four digs. Alexa Mazzeo once again led the defense with 13 digs and two assists. Alli Sauerwald contributed six kills, two digs and one ace.

Souderton upped its conference record to 4-3 (7-4 overall) while the Panthers fell to 0-8 (2-11 overall).

 

SOL American

 

ABINGTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-20)

The Ghosts bounced back from a disappointing five-set loss to North Penn 24 hours earlier with a sweep of the Flying Cardinals.

Lila Stonehouse led the Ghosts with 13 kills while Emilee Zuccato had eight and Sasha Moody had six. Setter Izzy Reilly dished out 26 assists.

With the win, the Ghosts upped their conference record to 5-1 (7-4 overall) while the Flying Cardinals are 1-5 in league play (2-6 overall).
