You know when you are matched up to play Springfield that you are in for a battle. They are strong on the ball, they contest every ball, and they play hard for 80 minutes. We wanted to get on the scoreboard first and we wanted to play a solid game from start to finish. I am really pleased with the way we started and finished this game.
Brooke Lobban was able to get us on the scoreboard, following a shot that Kyra Favors put in at the far post, Brooke made a really great run, and was there to put the ball in the net. In the midfield, Willow Taylor, Abby Engart, Katie Slear and Mallory Roedig were able to control the middle, and distribute to both our forwards and our flanks.
Kyra Favors, Emma Frasca, Riley Mullen, Gracie Cartin and Erin Hamill all put in valuable minutes on the forward line. Kyra again showed really good composure on both of her goals today, and was given really good passes from Willow Taylor. Taylor is doing a really good job in seeing the field from the midfield and connecting with forwards.
On our back line Molly Meakim, Skye Kramer and Annalise Messina were able to stifle most of Springfield's attack and force them to the corners, or force the outside shot.
Natalie Walton records her second shutout this week. Natalie has stepped up this week and is playing with confidence---she is in the mindset that we need her to be in as we are entering the last week of the regular season.
Great team win today.
