PLAYER(S) OF THE GAME
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH
Taji Hubbard (Defense) – The senior cornerback was a key contributor on defense in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-36 overtime win over Upper Dublin in a District One 5A quarterfinal.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Taji is a kid who is already a very good corner but still continues to get better and better every week. This is his first year playing but he plays like he has been playing football his whole life. He is a lockdown corner with the size and speed to be a big-time defender at the college level. He not only can lock down receivers, but he is physical enough to play the run game exceptionally well. I only wish we had him for more than this year!”
Tommy Hannon (Offense) – The Colonials’ standout linebacker saw action at running back in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-36 overtime win over Upper Dublin in the District One 5A quarterfinals, finishing with 11 carries for 99 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Tommy ran the ball for the first time for us this year and made a statement. He is powerful, fast and has great vision. Rarely does he get tackled by one defender. He was a spark for us offensively and ran hard all night including the game winning TD in overtime.”
Seve Spruill (Special Teams) – The junior kicker was once again a study in consistency in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 42-36 overtime win over Upper Dublin the District One 5A quarterfinal round, connecting on all five PATs.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Seve continues to be a weapon for us on Kickoff with his ability to put the ball anywhere on the field. He was 100 percent on extra points again this week going 5-for-5.”
QUAKERTOWN
Will Steich & Tyler Woodman (Offense) – The senior duo game the Panthers remarkable balance in Quakertown’s 42-21 win over Downingtown East in a District One 6A quarterfinal game. Steich competed 10 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns (no interceptions) while Woodman had 32 carries for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Kaden Roesener & Brett Hileman (Defense) – Roesener, a senior linebacker, led the defense with seven tackles (five solo) that included a pair of sacks in Quqkertown’s 42-21 win over Downingtown East in a District One 6A quarterfinal game. Hileman recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to give the Panthers an early 6-0 lead. It set the tone for another strong outing for Quakertown’s defense.
