Final list of colleges: Monmouth, Delaware, West Chester, Bloomsburg
Reasons for choosing Monmouth: “I met the coaches in the summer for a camp, and they were super awesome. I met a few girls at the camp. I came back for an official visit two months later,
and I met more of the people. It was so awesome. When I toured the school for academics, my family and I just fell in love with it. The movie Annie, a movie we watched growing up, was filmed there – (Great Hall) is Daddy Warbucks House.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in cross country and track at the collegiate level? “Freshman year during spring track I started thinking about it. I did competitive swimming up until then. I had started when I was eight or so, and I realized swimming wasn’t my passion anymore. I did cross country, and I really liked it. After the swim season here, I did track and I was like, ‘This is what I want to do.’”
Coach Jay Marsden says: “Brianna is an incredible athlete. She is probably one of the hardest working athletes and most dedicated athletes I have had the honor of coaching. She has persevered through many things throughout her career such as injuries, and being a multiple sport athlete, she always comes in striving to be better than she was. She’s improved every year of her career, and she truly puts in the work to get better day in and day out. She’s somebody who can be trusted to not only do workouts but lead workouts and be a true leader of the team. She is a two-time captain, and that was given to her as a junior and senior because she was somebody who showed extreme dedication to the sport and knowledge of the sport and understanding of everything that has to go into cross country and track and field. We’re extremely proud of her joining the Monmouth University cross country and track teams.”
