BENSALEM GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Coach: Steve Johnson, 2nd year
Assistant coaches: Sheldon Per, Elena Toselli, Andrew Candy, Julia Cummisky
Last year’s record: 7-13 (2-8 league)
Notable losses: Gianna Paglaiccetti
Key returners: Delaney Bell (12/SG, returning starter), Maddie MacDougall (12/SG), Sam Daut (12/G/F), Erin Devlin (12/F), Kylie Smith (11/G), Averi McCoy (11/G COVID opt out last season), Amber Howard (10/G), Mackenzie Kramer (10/F)
Others to watch: Outside of our seniors and juniors, we have a ton of sophomores and freshmen in our program, both varsity and JV. We are looking forward to building our young players up. Our seniors do a great job of showing up each and every day ready to compete, so we are looking forward to it rubbing off on our underclassmen.
Strengths: We are much deeper this year than in years past. We have a solid 10 players that could get playing time depending on the situation. I believe our team did a great job this offseason making that jump from a “team” to a “family”. I am looking forward to our unselfish play on the basketball court.
Outlook: “We are looking forward to competing each and every game this season. We had a successful offseason, so hopefully we can carry that over to the regular season. As I said earlier, we really turned into a family. I am really excited to see the product that we have been working on each and every day at practice. We are pushing a we not me mentality. Girls will play harder, communicate stronger, and have each other’s back the closer they are. We plan on going out each game with the confidence that we can win. We would also like to secure a playoff spot this year.”
