The Souderton Girls Wrestling team competed in its first official competition Tuesday at the Governor Mifflin Girls Tournament. Over 120 girls were present at this event.
Three middle school girls joined the team, and two of them went undefeated. Currently Souderton is the only District 1 team with a sanctioned girls wrestling team. However, there are 31 teams statewide and quickly growing.
The participation number of girls nearly doubled with almost 600 high school girls competing in PA in 2021-22.
Kayla Husti-Luca went 4-0 with 4 falls with 10 takedowns
Gisele Ramirez went 3-0 with 3 falls.
Trinity Monaghan went 2-0 with 2 falls.
