Lower Moreland Girls' Lacrosse Preview

LOWER MORELAND GIRLS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coaches: Jessica Ashenbrenner (head coach), Steve Wittmer (assistant coach)

Last year’s record:  5-12 (2-9 in the SOL) Last year was our first complete season in the Suburban One League (after being in the Bicentennial Athletic League). We had some challenging games, and the competition was eye opening, but it was also nice to play local teams that have both Varsity and JV squads because our enrollment numbers are high. Within the league, we played strong games against Cheltenham and William Tennent. Against the National Conference, we played well against Bensalem and Neshaminy.

Notable Losses: Paige Malpezzi (attack), Maggie McGarry (defense)

Key Players: Emily Fee (SR/GK), Leila Rosala (SR/mid/attack), Sara Asmann (SR/attack), Loren Bowles (SR/mid), Tori Finnegan (SR/mid), Kylie Tammaro (SR/attack), Sarah Rosala (JR/attack), Arlene Singh (JR/defense)

Others to Watch: Meredith Lutter (SR/defense), Noor Saidi (SR/mid)

Outlook: With eleven seniors, we are excited to bring back many key players this season. We have a huge group of enthusiastic athletes this year, including many freshmen who are playing lacrosse for the first time. Without a middle school program, each year the goal is to build new players while challenging our veteran players to improve upon the prior year. This is also our second season in the SOL, and although we lost some strong players, our goal is to beat last year’s record. In addition to working hard on the field, we will also continue to promote service through a Laurel House fundraiser at the end of April where we collect items for those impacted by domestic violence.”
