Reasons for choosing St. Francis: “Beautiful campus, and I can do both nursing and softball at the same time. It has a great program that works really hard and is well respected.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in softball at the collegiate level? “Ever since watching the College World Series in 2012, I knew I wanted to play college softball. It
was a dream that soon started to become a reality when I started really getting into travel softball and playing in some of the most competitive tournaments around the country. Due to COVID, the recruiting process was slow and frustrating, but I am confident that I ended up in the right place. After visiting the campus, talking with Coach Jess, and discussing with my parents, I knew Saint Francis was a perfect fit for me.”
Coach Mike Perez says: "Lauryn is a coach's dream! As a four-year varsity member and two-time team captain, she is a phenomenal talent, but also the hardest working player on the team. As the only senior on the roster, she is an ideal leader, both vocally and by example. She's the first one to practice, the first to grab equipment, and the first to offer encouragement, advice, and support. It's been my pleasure to be able to witness her amazing growth from Plymouth Little League to Division 1 commit, achieving a goal she set for herself at a young age. Her love of softball is obvious to anyone that knows her and her commitment to constant improvement is unparalleled. Lauryn is a coach on the field, thanks to her vast experience playing at the highest level. I’m honored to be able to coach her at PW and wish her all the best at St. Francis. Coach Jess & the Red Flash softball family are getting a good one!”
