2011 Upper Merion Boys' BB Preview

UPPER MERION BOYS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Francis Bowe (2nd year)

Assistant coaches:  John Armenio (Asst. Varsity), Robbie Griffith (JV Head Coach)

Last year’s record:  4-8 SOL, 10-13 overall, eighth place in District One AAA

Notable losses:  Eddie Chamillio, Naim Cheeseboro (Stony Brook)

Key returners:  Pat Stringfield (Sr., Guard), Connor McGrath (Jr., Forward), Jovan Nicholson (Soph., Forward), David Stecz (Soph., Guard), CJ Reinert (Soph., Forward), Max Unthank (Jr., Guard), Austin Dalton (Jr., Guard), Tyreek Fairel (Sr., Forward)

Others to watch:  Hassan Garner (Jr., Forward), Justin Lewis (Jr., Guard), Trent Carroll (Sr., Forward), Samik Patel (Soph., Forward), Eric Wells (Soph., Guard)

Outlook:  “The Vikings may not be a prolific scoring threat, but the expectation is that this cast of players has the chance to compensate on the defensive end. This is a very quick and young Vikings’ team, which is more balanced and deeper than last year’s squad. Easy buckets off of strong defensive technique could help formulate to Upper Merion having a winning season and hosting another district playoff game for the second year in a row.”
