2019 Wissahickon Girls' Soccer Preview

WISSAHICKON GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW

Coach:  Chris McDaniels (2nd year)

Assistant coaches:  Mike Ford and Hal Batdorf

Last year’s record:  7-11 overall; 7-7 in SOL
In my first year, we improved upon last year’s record and look to continue that trend this year.

Notable losses:

  • Sam Cominitski – soccer at Harcum
  • Kelly Dickson – lacrosse at St. Francis
  • Sam Intrieri – lacrosse at Towson
  • Lieke Black – track at Shippensburg

Key returners:

  • Carly Amato (12) center midfield
  • Grace Mullen (12) center midfield
  • Anna Schools (12) defense
  • Brooke Berry (12) defense
  • Quinn Klessel (12) keeper

Others to watch:

  • Anna May (10) - winger
  • Natalie “Scoops” Ryan - winger

Strengths/Question Marks:  “Looking to build on some positives from last year and put a few more notches in the win column.  Our attack should be potent, and most of our preseason work has been organizing the defense.  We hope to contend for a playoff berth.”

Outlook:  “I like that our 12th grade girls have stepped up to lead this team with an inclusive nurturing approach and high expectations.  Our early season workouts have been focused and I see us improving every day because of the attitude they bring and the example they set.  We are optimistic that we’ll be more successful than last year.”
