CENTRAL BUCKS EAST BASEBALL PREVIEW

Head coach: Kyle (18th season as head coach)

Last year:  The team had a 17-8 overall record and a 12-4 league record, finishing first in the  SOL Colonial division. The Patriots won playoff games against Garnet Valley and Neshaminy, but lost to Downingtown West in the district semifinal, before defeating Plymouth Whitemarsh to finish third in District 1. The Patriots lost to Hazleton in the opening round of the PIAA state tournament, which is the first visit to state playoffs in school history.

Notable losses:
Sam Bliss (playing for Dickinson College)
Damian Frayne (pitching for the College of Wooster)
Chase Harlan (drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers)
Reece Moody (playing for James Madison University)
Jack Mislan (playing for Lafayette College)

Key returning players:
Jason Abert (RHP/C - Junior, East Stroudsburg University commit)
Nolan Behm (IF - Senior, University of Pittsburgh commit)
Chase Fulford (SS - Senior, Binghampton University commit)
Sean Hill (OF - Junior)
Colin Lynch (1B/3BSenior, University of Dayton commit)
Nick Mutchler (C - Senior)
Anthony Niro (OF - Junior)
Matthew Sharkey (C - Senior , committed to Chestnut Hill College)
Mike Scafidi (RHP - Senior)

Outlook: “The team is optimistic about the upcoming season despite losing key fourth year varsity players. With a strong returning roster, including seven starters from the playoffs last season, they aim to build on last year's success. The new schedule of three-game series against conference opponents will require consistent pitching. Offensively, we should be able to run with any team. If our younger arms can pound the strike zone and trust their defense, we can compete with anyone.”
