Strengths/Question Marks:
“We have a lot of young arms throughout our JV and Varsity programs. We are excited to see them compete with each other for time in the rotation. Many of these arms are untested at the varsity level,, but Sr. Eric Chase will return this year for stability at the top of the rotation.
“We will have a great deal of competition for starting time and playing time this year, with a solid group of athletic players all hungry to make their mark. This means that most of our starting lineup is a question mark for now; I view this as a strength.”
Outlook:
“Our current roster contains a mix of returning starters and players fresh to the varsity field. There is a lot of competition across all positions. This will help us push each other to become better baseball players.
“Guys like Thomas Prato (Immaculata), Carter Usowski (Ursinus) and David Yanni (Pitt) are difficult to replace having been a mainstay for two or three seasons each in the infield as well as the middle of the batting order. Returning starters Eric Chase (Sr. RHP), Cameron Komanchak (Jr. OF), Collin Sheehan (Jr. C), Andrew Collins (Sr. IF), and CJ Gillmer (Jr. IF) will have to take the reins.
“Our entire roster is full of players, new and old, who we are expecting to make an impact this season. Our success will lie in their ability to take care of the baseball, command the strike zone and control what they can control. If we take a good approach into all facets of the game, I believe we can have success.
“I firmly believe that any team in our conference can win any game. This is one of the toughest conferences in the toughest districts in the entire state. Any team from this conference can make a significant run in the district and state playoffs. Why not us?”
