Central Bucks East Girls' Basketball Preview

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW

Coach: Tom Lonergan 14th Season at CBE (29th Overall)

Assistant coaches: TJ Lonergan (1st Year at CBE), Jenna Cooper (4th Year at CBE), Ashley Thompson (2nd Year at CBE), Melissa Carr (8th Year at CBE)

Last year’s record:  20-7 overall, 13-1 SOL, SOL Continental Conference Champions (6th Consecutive Title), District 1 2nd Round (12th Seed), District-One 9th Place Game Lost to Upper Dublin

Notable losses: Lindsey Kelly (Center, Nazareth College), Lexi Scrivano (Forward, Millersville University), Shannon Devlin (Clemson University-Not Playing), and Margaret Ann Hubbell (Forward, Transferred to Germantown Academy)

Key returners:  Morgan Kelly (SR-Guard), Courtney Webster (JR-Center), Karoline White (JR-Guard)

Others to watch:  Lindsey Nier (JR-Forward), Kaitlyn Miller (JR-Guard), Kyra Scaleti (FR-Forward), Lauren Burrell (SO-Guard)

Strengths/Question Marks:  One of our major strengths will be our familiarity with each other. The girls have been playing together as a team since last season ended and have become very close with each other. One of our weaknesses will obviously be our inexperience at the varsity level.

Outlook:  As always, we hope to compete for another SOL Continental Conference Championship, make a deep run in the district and state playoffs, although this year it will be another extremely competitive year for the SOL Continental Conference. Despite our inexperience and youth, the girls feel confident that they will be able to compete with anyone in District One come December and will be able to continue the tradition of success, hard work, and tough defense that has been the trademark of CB East girls basketball over the last 15 years.

Games To Watch: Both CB South, CB West, and North Penn games, as well as the Council Rock-North game in January (have not played CR North since 2010 District Quarterfinals, CR-North won 39-38 en route to District Championship game).
