Central Bucks East Girls' Lacrosse Preview

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST GIRLS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coach: Maggie Stella-first year

Assistant coaches: Hillary Wesney (V) and Kelly Tait (JV)

2019 record:  12-7 overall, 7-1 SOL National Conference tri-champions

Notable losses:  Lost 6 seniors. Two are playing at the collegiate level, Quinn Ferry (Boston University) and Riley Forman (Arizona). We also lost Lindsey Thompson, Sydney Ives, Sydney Schupp, and Kiki Fink. They all added so much talent and passion to our team, and we will work to fill the gaps without them.

Key returners: We are returning 12 seniors. Our captains are Grace Bethke, Courtney Mackenzie, and Morgan Eater. Bethke is a force on defense, while Eater and Mackenzie run the midfield. On defense we also have Leah Trichon, Sophia Buesing, and Lyndsey Zezzo, who are seniors, as well as junior Aidenn O’Leary. Then we have the senior Fiona Henderson in cage, who is committed to play at Kutztown next year. In the midfield we have Courtney Mackenzie, Morgan Eater as our senior leaders, and joining them are returners Courtney Curry and Rylee Surovec. On attack we have seniors, Abby Durr, Katie Volans, and juniors Erika Zimmer and Morgan Tait. This year we have sophomore Sammy Kishel as our assistant captain on attack; this will be her first full season with the Patriots since last year was her freshman season.

Others to watch: Our team this year has a range of talent, the list of returners is truly a force, with a fire to play again. Joining them all this year are our freshmen Paige Keller and Ava Delfini.

Strengths/Question Marks:  Our greatest strength is in our numbers. We have a lot of people who can play in a lot of different areas. Our senior class is big and ready to play a full season again. As a new coach, I can’t wait to see what they do in games together.

Outlook: “Our goal for this season is to enjoy every second. Every goal, every caused turnover, every save, all call for a huge celebration. These girls have a unique perspective, being robbed of an entire season gives players a fire that in indescribable. I am excited to see where this year takes us!”
