CENTRAL BUCKS EAST SOFTBALL PREVIEW
Coach: Erin Scott – 4th year
Assistant coaches: John Hasson, Karl Knapp, Dave, Schulman
Last year’s record: 12-8 overall, 7-7 league – made it to the 2nd round of districts and lost to Pennsbury. We had a big win against North Penn and some solid non-league wins last season.
Notable losses:
Ali Vavala – West Chester
Laura Murray – West Chester
Key returners (include grade/position):
Kaylynn Johnson – 12/OF, C, DP
Allie Chase – 11/outfield
Jess Haug – 11/SS or 3B
Julia Schoenewald – 11/catcher
Caroline Schoenewald – 10/2B or SS
Others to watch:
Sierra Huckfeldt – 11/P or 1B
Jayme Zeigler – 11/P
Sarah Decker – 12/P, 2B, 1B
Strengths/Question Marks: We have a strong group of returning players who have experience at the varsity level and were competitive last year. We have three pitchers that will work together to carry the load on the mound, so we are hoping they have grown and will be able to work together to keep other teams on their toes. In addition, I anticipate solid defense and if we can consistently produce at the plate, we should have a successful season.
Outlook: We have a lot of returning players, and we definitely have a lot of potential. The girls have communicated they would like to match or exceed our accomplishments from last year, which is definitely possible for this group. They have shown a lot of focus and drive early on in the season and have really impressed the coaching staff in our “pre-season.”
