Outlook:
“Only one player was lost to graduation, but the Patriots will once again be a very young team, bringing back most of last season’s starters. We have a dedicated and talented young core of players who are starting to gain a little confidence in each other.   Having only nine varsity players, we don’t have a lot of depth and with several key players missing significant time with off-season injuries and illnesses, it’s given some of the newer players a chance to shine.
“I was happy with our team’s progress last season. Starting only one senior and four freshmen, we were able to get four wins, and more importantly, the kids began to learn how to win. If we are able to get everyone back healthy this season, we should be able to build on that success and win a lot more matches this season.”
Fun fact:
“We have an interesting mix of players this year, a group of young players with a great deal of volleyball experience, and a group of seniors with very little experience. Only one of our seniors has significant playing experience – middle hitter Jeff Wolf.   But we’ve got three additional seniors who are good athletes and have been picking the game up very quickly, and all three should develop into very good players. Greg Sawyer and Steve Raitt just started playing last season, and Shane Donovan started this year, yet they should all get considerable playing time this year. It will be a fun and interesting season!”
