Central Bucks West Girls' Lacrosse Preview

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST GIRLS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coach:  Tara Schmucker (5 years at West)

Assistant coaches:  Becky Cartee-Haring, Marykate Blankenburg

Last year’s record:  11-7 overall and 6-6 in the league, lost in the first round of playoffs

Notable losses:  Jane Savard and Kalin Ojert

Key returners:  Elena Romesburg (SR midfield), Sarah Gebre (SR attack), Jacq Fitzgerald (JR midfield), Meghan Tillger (JR attack)

Others to watch:  Madison Shield (SR defense) and Amanda Gundlach (SR attack)

Strengths/Question Marks:  We have a whole team that can contribute and perform; we just need to continue working on cohesion on each end.

Outlook:  “For three years now, we have maintained the motto ‘the little things make all the difference.’  We hope to be competitive and come out strong each game.  The new conference alignment will be interesting and creates a totally different dynamic; coming out strong will be important and maintaining intensity and poise will be crucial.  We have a good mix of old and new faces, and it is a matter of implementing what we do in practice and taking one game at a time.  Specifically, we have a strong senior class - all four will be playing a sport at the next level and all capable of great things.  Also, the three captains, Sarah Gebre, Jacq Fitzgerald and Elena Romesburg have been excellent examples of work ethic and intensity.  Ultimately, I would love to list each and every player as they all will contribute, and we have many threats this year.”

GAMES TO WATCH:  CB games are always intense as well as North Penn and Souderton but all league games will be competitive I suspect.
