CENTRAL BUCKS WEST WRESTLING PREVIEW

Coach: Steve Romesburg (10th season)

Head Assistant Coach – Jerry Ward, Todd Mullin, Dylan Schwartz, Joe McGinley, John Long

Last year’s record:  2-13 overall, 0-5 SOL

Notable loss:  Chris Cleland

Key returners:

Seniors Teague McCormack (113-120 lbs.) and Carl DiGiorgio (220 lbs. – 5th Place at States) and Junior Jack Wierzbowski (160 lbs.), We also have Senior Mike Long (152 lbs.), Junior Justin Lose (135 lbs.), Junior Jake O’Donnell (152 lbs.), Sophomore Jett Mullin (145 lbs.), Sophomore Teddy Gilroy (285 lbs.) and Sophomore Anthony Nocito (145 lbs.)

Newcomers:
9th grader Patrick Kelly (113lbs.) and 9th grader Jacob Hoovan (126 lbs.).  New at 132 lbs. is Junior Azamat Jafarov from Ubakistan and our girl wrestler – 9th grader Simone Grondahl-Zerby (160 lbs.) and Junior Travis McClure (182 – 195 lbs.)

Others to watch:
Senior Will Berriman, Senior Charlie Casey, Senior Peyton Przyuski, Senior Alejandro Lopez Donate and Sophomore Louis Dasconio

Outlook: “Our goal is to develop some of our new wrestlers and continue to improve with each practice and with each match. We have a good group of kids, and they are jelling together as a team. Having more wrestlers this year than last year (23), we would like to be more competitive in our dual matches, so that will be a goal for us this season. Individually, we would like to maybe advance more wrestlers into the post-season tournaments.”

Matches to watch: “We consider all our matches big matches and always look forward to the C.B. East vs. C.B. West dual meet match held on Feb. 2 at C.B. West High School.”
