CHELTENHAM WRESTLING PREVIEW

Head Coach: Rob Weneck, 10thyear (2nd year at Cheltenham)

Last season’s record: 6-11

Notable losses: Kahliq McCalman, David Cappel, Michael Slowe

Key Returners: AJ Gordon (10th, 160lbs), Corey Bradley (11th, 172lbs), Max Borisov (10th, 133 lbs), Rah'Miere Sanders (11th, 121lbs)

Others to Watch: Kurt Scheuerman (11th, 285 lbs)

Season Outlook:  “Cheltenham lost five experienced seniors due to graduation. Replacing them will be a challenge, but there is a youthful core of hungry wrestlers looking to build on .500 or better records from last season. Regional qualifier AJ Gordon and Corey Bradley will be a good back-to-back combination in the middle weights while Rah'Miere Sanders and Max Borisov provide the same punch in the lighter weights. Individually, Cheltenham can qualify six or more wrestlers to the Southeast Regional tournament if the wrestlers compete to their abilities. Springfield Township and Upper Moreland are the top teams in the Freedom Division of the Suburban One league and are well coached. They provide the measuring stick with respect to our dual meet success.”
