COUNCIL ROCK NORTH BOYS’ BASKETBALL
SEASON REVIEW – 2014-2015
The 2014-15 basketball team was defined by one word: DEFENSE. Setting a school record with a 42.8 ppg against, the ’14-’15 Indians left a legacy of toughness and togetherness that will be remembered for years to come. As a result, Council Rock North found itself once again near the top of the Suburban One National Conference standings.
CR North started out of the gate strong, heading into the annual AHA Holiday Tournament with a record of 6-1. The highlight of that early season stretch was the program’s 800th career win in a 62-30 victory over Spring – Ford. The Indians lone loss was a highly competitive game against state ranked and S.O.L. rival, Pennsbury.
After a 43-27 road win over district rival CR South, the Indians were rolling at 8-2. However CR North dropped their next three games. Two of those losses (Glen Mills & Bensalem) occurred on the last possession in heartbreaking fashion. The Indians responded to the adversity by winning five of their next seven games, highlighted by an outstanding defensive perform and at William Tennent, in which they gave up only 22 points.
Putting themselves firmly in playoff position, CR North ended the regular season on a four game winning streak. Including in that streak was another win vs. CR South (49-35) and a revenge win at Bensalem (63-38), clinching their post season bid. The Indians entered the District One AAAA Playoffs as the 21st seed and headed to 12th seed Lower Merion. Playing one of their best games of the year in Kobe Bryant Arena and leading for most of the game, the Indians again faced heartbreak, losing on the final possession, 38-37. CR North finished the season in third place in the extremely competitive SOL National and finished the season 14-9.

2015 – 2016 SEASON PREVIEW
The 2015– 16 season comes with great anticipation as the Indians look to mix a balance of experience and youth. CR North loses three starters, Matt Margolis (Ursinus College), Steve Nowmos, and Drew Glenn.
The Indians return starters Riley Thompson (11 pts, 3 reb, 2 ass.), Will Desautelle (7 pts, 6 reb.), as well as sixth man Tyler Nowmos (2.5 pts, 1.5 reb). However, Thompson will miss part of the early season recovering from surgery. In addition, the Indians return regular contributors Noah Ehlin and Matt Baniewicz. Eric Levine and Elliot Spicer also return as varsity letter winners.
The 2015-16 schedule is once again challenging. The Indians open their season at New Foundations Charter. Other interesting early season non - league games include Lower Bucks foe Bristol and PAC 10 power Spring - Ford. The Indians will again host the Athletes Helping Athletes Classic at CR North with visiting teams CB South, Ben Franklin, and St. Paul’s (MD) (12/29, 30). In January, CR North will participate in the SOL Challenge vs. Souderton and have a return home game vs. Glen Mills. The Indians will also continue their local rivalries with S.O.L National opponents Abington, Bensalem, CR South, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Tennent, and Truman.
