LOWER MORELAND GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW
Coach: Todd Hill -Year 3
Assistant coaches: Pat Brady -Year 3 and Bridgette Alexander -Year 1
Last year’s record: Overall Record: 8-8-2, League Record: 5-4-1
Notable losses: “We lost our 1st Team all-league attacker Morgan Pennisi and first team all-league defender Amelia Brown. We lost our 4-year starting goalkeeper Sandra Malave (all three went on to play college soccer). We also lost speed and aggressiveness in our wing defender Abby Wasserstrom.”
Key returners: Attacker Nikki Sahl, Midfielder Kenna Rozanski, and Defender Payge Lennon will be our three senior all-league players who will be tasked to with providing leadership in their third of the field
Others to watch: Senior wing Ruby Levin, sophomore attacker Shannon Mahon, and sophomore defender Agnes Kroll along with a number of other dynamic underclassmen.
Strengths/Question Marks: “We have a robust group of talented midfielders and attackers. We hope to score a lot of goals this year. Our question marks are around defense and goalkeepers. Between defense and goalie, we lost three 4-year starters. That is a lot of experience to replace. Our goalkeepers are working really hard to step into that spot, and our defense is improving every day.”
Outlook: “We are working harder this year at staying healthy, with additional stretching every day. Last year we were never healthy, and that hurt us a lot. We have a really good group of girls who love to play soccer. They work really hard to succeed. We still have a lot of work to do, but our goal is to get a little better every day. I believe if we do that consistently through the season, we will be able to reach our potential which will include a lot of success.”
