Neshaminy Boys' Lacrosse Preview

NESHAMINY BOYS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Head Coach: John Donato (3rd year)

Assistant Coaches: Curt Zeberlein and Austin Marshall

Key players:  Senior defender and team captain Bobby Blum, along with junior D-pole Tim Trapp will lead a defense that has potential to make an impact. Fellow senior defensemen/LSMs Timmy Ansel and Gavin Shapcott, juniors Logan Hood, Logan Backhaus, Colin Heltzel and Jake Herb, and sophomore Evan Fitch, all possess skill and experience, and each are expected to be significant contributors to the success of the overall team defense. Senior D-middie Kieran Meehan, a relative newcomer to the game, has stepped up as a team leader by example through his everyday determination and positive mindset. Along with fellow senior Shyke Dogiani, they add speed and hustle on the defensive half.

Junior goalies Ryan Rickards and Sean O’Hara lack game experience but are intensely competing, while also supporting each other and improving every day in practice.  The duo provides needed depth at the keeper position.

On offense, senior midfielder Ethan Roscoe continues to develop his game and will work to gel with senior line mates Liam Moss and Brett Hemberger, a recently converted long pole, along with juniors Ayden Demi, Ethan Roney, sophomore Jared Edmiste, and freshman Jack Sexton. Each has demonstrated competitive athleticism and will be looked upon to contribute on both sides of the midfield.

A young group of attackers lead by sophomores Lucas Maher and Liam Ames, along with junior Patrick Courtney and freshman Jack McVey have been working hard, knowing they will need to run the offense and generate points.

Outlook:  “With very limited varsity level playing experience, the team has meshed well together. They are a group of terrific young men who appreciate the opportunity to be on the field this spring and who strive to improve each day in practice.  They are looking forward to competing at a high level in every game which includes the challenges of match-ups with their formidable SOL opponents.”
