NESHAMINY BOYS’ SOCCER PREVIEW
Coach: Tom Foley (14th Year)
Assistant coaches: Jim McCourt, Steve Mellor, and Hank Ricci
Last year’s record: 7-2-1 SOL, 14-5-3 Overall. 2nd SOL Patriot Division, Playback is District 1 Tournament
Notable losses: Rezi Tebidze, Matt Diamond, Brian Birmingham and Raivitch
Key returners: Damien Castro (12) F, Ryan MacMullen (12) F & Brody Collins (10) MF
Others to watch: Ryan MacMullen (12) F, Stephen Buczek (11) MF, Christos Vasilarikos (11) MF, Jake Fallon (11), Nick Indellicato (11) MF/D and Jayson Morris (10) MF
Strengths/Question Marks: “We have a solid midfield with strong ball winners who can also distribute well. However, we lost our entire back line (three to graduation and one to a season-ending injury), so we’ll need to rebuild a defense that had a phenomenal year. In addition, we’ll be without 15 goals of production with the loss of Rezi Tebidze.”
Outlook: “With the number of players we have returning, we’re hopeful in our ability to defend at the same level as last year. We also believe we have players with the pace to get in behind defenses and get some goals for us. If those pieces come together, we hope to be near the top of the SOL and in contention for a District 1 Playoff spot.”
