NESHAMINY GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW
Coach: Kate Livingstone 6th year head coach
Assistant coaches: Kaitlin O’Donnell (2nd year)
Last year’s record: 9-8 overall, 6-6 SOL National
Notable losses: We lost four starting seniors from last season: Amy Paulits (SOL National First Team selection, and Bucks County Courier First Team Gold Team selection), Kelly Mason (SOL National Third Team), M.E. Easton (SOL National Third Team), and Bria Harris.
Key returners: Jen Harasim (Sr. MH), Morgan Oberholtzer (Sr. OH), Julia Staub (Sr. Setter), Kirsten Borsos (Sr. OH), Molly MacDonald (Jr. OH), Danielle Catapano (Jr. Setter/Op.).
Others to watch: Jasmine Oliver (Jr. OH), Gabby Mannino (Jr. DS), Rachel Goldstein (Jr. OH), Sam Orr (So. MH), Mackenzie Maher (Fr. MH).
Strengths/Question Marks: We are a young team, made up of a mixture of six returning Varsity players, and five young, but talented players. I would say that our strength this season is going to be seen in how the returning players are able to encourage and lead our younger players. I am hoping they are able to come together as one cohesive group that is able to disrupt the rhythm of other teams in our league.
Outlook: “This year I am excited to see how our four seniors play. Four years ago, Neshaminy restructured itself and we brought freshmen up to the high school. This year we are finally seeing how this decision has an impact on our program. Up until now, we have mostly had girls who learned volleyball in tenth grade, and we have had to compete against schools who have had girls playing volleyball since seventh grade. Now we are on a more level playing field as others in our league, and it is time to test out what kind of program we have really been building here. These four seniors have been with me for four years, Staub and Oberholtzer have been Varsity starters since they were sophomores, and Harasim and Borsos have been Varsity starters since they were juniors. Harasim also happens to be my cousin. So when I think about watching these kids carry our program this year, to say I am excited is an understatement.”
GAMES TO WATCH: 9/13 at 3:30 PM at Tennent, 9/19 at 7:00 PM Home v. CR South, and 10/18 our Senior Night v. Pennsbury.
