NORTH PENN FIELD HOCKEY PREVIEW
Head Coach: Shannon McCracken (10th year)
Assistant coaches: Karalyn Schmidt, Laura Anthony, Pam Sherry, Brynne Schoppe
Last year’s record: 6-6 (12th seed in District One Tournament, lost 2-1 to CB East in opening round)
Notable losses: Megan Albert (Sacred Heart), Eleni Kountroubis (Lehigh)
Key returners: Bay Detweiler (SR, forward), Linsey Gilbert (SR, back), Erin O’Donnell (SR, forward, James Madison), Madison Waldspurger (SR, midfield/back, Saint Francis), Annabelle Smink (JR, midfield/back), Kerry O’Donnell (SO, midfield), Riley O’Donnell (SO midfield/forward), Melissa Sessler (SO, back)
Others to watch: Belle Sparango (SR, forward), Kiera Holt (JR, GK), Catherine McGeehan (JR, midfield/forward), Caleigh Sperling (SO, midfield), Laura Albert (FR, midfield/back)
Strengths: Strengths include work ethic, team chemistry, vision of the field and knowledge of the game, and strong senior leadership/experience with a good mix of young players to even out the squad.
Question Marks: We play in a competitive high quality division (Colonial) and will be playing the cross-over games with the Patriot Division for the first time this season, so there will be new opponents that we don’t know much about and haven’t played before in the regular season.
Outlook: “I am very excited about our varsity squad this season as they are focused, excited, and committed to our goals. We look forward to competing for a division title and playing in the district and state tournaments.”
