NORTH PENN GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW
Coach: Mike Rio (5 years)
Assistant coaches: Gina Capps, Drew Schmitz, Derik Stover
Last year’s record: 7-10-1
Notable losses: Jamie Webb (Jefferson University), Lauren Blanch (Rochester University)
Key returners: Keira Sparango (Senior), Emily Patkos (Senior), Sam Ridler (Senior), Maddy Murphy (Junior), Izzy Kee (Junior), Lily McGee (Junior)
Strengths: “The team has a few returning players and a lot of new faces eager to make an impact on the program. The girls constantly work hard and push each other to be successful. The team defends well as a group and looks to possess the ball and move it quickly around the field. “
Outlook:“We have a young program this year after graduating 12 seniors the year before. The girls work hard and will grow throughout the season in the pursuit of making it back to the postseason for the first time in a few years. As the team continues to play together and develop more chemistry and understanding of one another, they should be able to play some really effective and entertaining soccer. As a program, we will fight in every game within one of the more competitive leagues and conferences out there. I expect our returning players to be strong leaders and motivators for the younger girls and look forward to seeing what the team can accomplish this season.”
