On Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, Pennridge senior Adi Garges was recognized for committing to continue her water polo career at St. Francis University.

Adi Garges – Saint Francis University (Water Polo)

Major: Exercise Physiology

Final list of colleges:  St. Francis University, Villanova, California Baptist University, Mount Saint Mary’s, Saint Francis College

Reasons for choosing St. Francis University: “Their exercise physiology program is outstanding, they are D1, they have water polo, and I loved the atmosphere – very welcoming.”

Reflections on high school career: “Had amazing team chemistry with my team. We always worked together to win, and two seasons in a row we made program history.”

Coach Jacob Grant says: “Adi is heading to Saint Francis University to play Division 1 water polo. She was our hole set, so she was the center for our team for the last couple of years. She has had an amazing four years at Pennridge. I knew her in seventh grade, and I knew she was an athlete. I knew she was someone I wanted to have on the high school team, and I knew she’d be able to come in and make a pretty big impact on our program and also at the state level.
“As a freshman, she came in and was playing varsity already. She was sidelined for a little bit that year due to an injury. She came back with a vengeance her sophomore year, earned herself a starting spot and continued to start for her junior and senior year of high school. Throughout that time, she developed into one of the best players in the state. Her junior year she helped the team finish sixth place in the state, and she was awarded a second team all-state, first team all-league and first team all-conference player. She was one of our leading goal scorers as a junior.
“As a senior, she came back even better. The summer before her senior year she played with a travel club team at the Junior Olympics Tournament in Texas, which culminated with them finishing fourth or fifth in the country. It was a really great accomplishment for her and the team that she played for. Her senior year of high school she came in as a captain, and she was a great leader for the girls, a great player to support the girls and be a great leader in and out of the water. This year ended up with Adi helping the team to finish in third place in the state. She was awarded first team all-state, first team all-conference and first team all-league, and she was runner-up for Miss Water Polo, voted the second best water polo player in the State of Pennsylvania. I’m super excited for her to go to St. Francis and play at the Division 1 level. I think she’s going to have a great career, and I’m super excited to support her along the way.”
