PENNSBURY GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Coach: Frank Sciolla (4th)
Assistant coaches: Jen Sroba( 4th), Logan Klock (3rd) Sean Ryan ( 4rd)
Last year’s record: 19-8 (8-4/3rd place SOL National). Hosted and won first home playoff game in 12 years.
Notable losses: Kate Mix to graduation and Cami Wiegand (retired)
Key returners: Bella Arcuri ( 11/G), Mary Miller ( 12/F), Ava Sciolla ( 10/G)
Others to watch: Nicole Pompili ( 10/G), Abbi Nassivera ( 11/F), Mia Spinelli ( 11/F), Lauren Dignan( 11/F), Emily Friel ( 11/F).
Strengths: Athleticism and versatility are strengths. The team will defend.
Question marks: Dealing with personnel losses will throw several untested players into key positions, and this will coincide with the toughest out of conference schedule that Pennsbury has played.
Outlook: “Pennsbury is excited to compete in a division that sent two teams to the state quarterfinals last year. The Falcons also combine trips to a national level tournament in Washington DC with appearances in the Play by Play Classics and Blue Star Classic. Besides sounding like an olive oil import company from a Godfather movie, the backcourt of Arcuri, Pompili and Sciolla has experience playing together and a good mix of skill and toughness that should help them compete with their stiff schedule.”
