PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW

Last year’s record: 7-11 (5-11, SOL record)
Notable losses: Fiona Gooneratne, Liberty Daddona
Key returners: Caitlyn Dinh (11, goalkeeper), Caelin Kosvitch (11, midfielder), Ella Clark (12, midfielder), Angelina Balcer (12, forward), Kate Yocom (12, midfielder), Brianna Reynolds (11, defender)
Others to watch: Katie Lukens (10, defender), Liv Reilly (10, midfielder), Meghan Wendler (11, midfielder), Gabby Lifshutz (12, defender)
Strengths/Question Marks: “Stellar goalkeeping from junior Caitlyn Dinh will give us a chance in every game. We need the experience some of our defenders received last year to pay off this season with more consistency and less mistakes. After the loss of leading goal scorer and assist leader, Fiona Gooneratne, where will our goals come from? We have an idea of how we want to attack and score but if that will translate into games in our Division remains to be seen.”
Outlook: “As always, we are well aware of the challenges that come when competing in the SOL – Liberty Division. There is a fitness level required to compete for 80 minutes in this league. There is an intense level of mental focus required to defend for 80 minutes in this league. We have to raise our standard to get there and we have a strong group of upperclassmen who have an opportunity to lead us in that regard.”
