PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW
Coach: T.J. DeLucia (3rdyear as HC)
Assistant coaches: Ryan Kirby, Crissy Terraces, Eric Fisher
Last year’s record: 6-8-2 in SOL. 8-8-2 Overall. As the #27 seed last year in District playoffs, we took #6 Abington to Overtime eventually losing 2-1.
Notable losses: Angelina Balcer, Ella Clark, Kate Yocom
Key returners: Caitlyn Dinh (12), Goalkeeper. Bri Reynolds (12), Meg Wendler (12), and Katie Lukens (11) are back in defense. Liv Reilly (11) and Keira Whelan (10) return to lead our attack. Sophomore midfielder Maddie McGuckien has put herself in position for a big season, and Marleigh Burton (10) is back looking to improve on her impressive freshman season.
Others to watch: Sophomore midfield twins, Kaiane and Maite Jayo. Senior midfielder Abby Boegner…and more who we hope to highlight throughout the season!
Strengths/Question Marks: “We are a year older and more experienced. A large majority of our team played Varsity soccer last year. We are a little bigger, a little stronger, a little faster, a little more skilled, a little deeper, and a little more focused than we were in 2022. The hope is that translates into results.”
Outlook: “We were proud of how we finished last year in district playoffs, especially when fielding such a young squad. We look to improve on that finish. We’d like to host a playoff game this year and come out on the right side of it. As we all know, the SOL Liberty Division is unforgiving. Nothing will be easy but there is an excitement around this team.”
