Plymouth Whitemarsh Girls' Volleyball Preview

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

Coach: Michael Nguyen (4th Year)

Assistant coaches:  Natasha Wetten, Casey McLenigan

Last year’s record: 10-4 SOL League, 10-5 Overall, Lost 1st Round of District 1 Playoffs

Notable losses:  Anna Waltz (playing-Neumann University), Giovanna Jenkins (playing-West Chester University)

Key returners:  Riley Hellings (12th/Setter), Cindy Ly (12th/OH), Michele Taunton (12th/OH), Tori Biggins (11th/Setter-OP), Emily Houck (11th/OP-MH), Ryan Haney (11th/L-DS), Cara Sweeney (10th/MH)

Others to watch:  Keelin McEleney (10th/L-DS)

Strengths/Question Marks:  PW strengths are setting and ball control, while they lack height and experience.

Outlook: “Plymouth Whitemarsh is not a tall team, so they will need to serve tough, defend well, and have better ball control than their opponents if intend to win matches this year. PW will need a big year from Riley Hellings, the most experienced player on the team, if they are to contend for a playoff spot. Juniors, Tori Biggins and Emily Houck, look to have a big year, and sophomores, Cara Sweeney and Keelin McEleney, will gain invaluable experience while playing on varsity.”
