Plymouth Whitemarsh Lacrosse - Boys Preview (2010-2011)

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH BOYS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coach:  Phil Chang, 8th season
Last year’s record: 12-7

Notable losses: Shawn Kaplan (Ohio State Face-offs), Pat Nolan (Cabrini), Blake Zucker
Key returnees:
Seniors: Colin Joka (attack), Gryphin Kelly (midfield/face-offs), Andrew Cox (attack), Pat McKee (defense), Pat Kennedy (attack)

Juniors – Kevin Hennessy (midfield, goalie last year),
Others to watch:
Seniors: Craig Lowery (midfield), Phil Iaccarino (midfield)

Juniors: Nick Swift (midfield), Tyler Haney (defense), Mike Martina (defense), Steve McKee (defense), Andrew Sabia (goalie), Kevin Brown (midfield), Dylan Wixted (attack), Jake Silvers (attack), Drew Zucker (defense), Christian Callahan (midfield), John Fritz (midfield), PJ Cunninham (midfield), Dean Linn (attack)

Sophomores – Chaz Gehringer (defense), Corey Kelly (midfield), John Walker (midfield)
Strengths:
We return an experienced attack led by senior Colin Joka (60 goals last year). We are also fortunate to have junior goalie Andrew Sabia transfer in from Roman Catholic. Sabia was a 1st Team All-League Goalie selection in the Catholic League. We also hope to continually be successful in the face-off circle as we return senior Gyphin Kelly who has been dominant on face-offs. Overall, we have a hard working group of young men who have a great attitude and passion for the game. We anticipate having a fun and successful year.
Question marks:  We only return one varsity player on defense, Pat McKee. We have many eager but inexperienced players taking on large roles in both the defense and midfield.
Overall outlook: Last year, we were one game away from winning a share of the league title, and we were fortunate enough to qualify for the District One playoffs. This year, we hope to once again qualify for the playoffs and compete for the league title.
