PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH SOFTBALL PREVIEW

Coach: Mike Perez (4th year)

Assistant coaches: Alex Skivo, Emily Caffrey, Christine Taunton, John Van Wie, Toni Washington

Last year’s record: 14-7 overall (11-5 in SOL Liberty); #15 seed in the 6A District 1 standing; lost in 1st round to Souderton

Notable losses: 3B Lauryn Kane (Saint Francis University)

Key returners: Molly Moore (Sr/P), Grace Carney (Sr/1B), Marissa Perez (Jr/SS), Caelin Kosvitch (Jr/C), Sam Skivo (Jr/OF), Haylie Lindley (Jr/1B), Rian Reed (So/Util, P), Kalina Childers (So/OF)

Others to watch: Marissa Caroluzzi (Jr/C), Madison Moran (So/3B, P), Jenna Yablon (So/OF), Joslyn Perez (Fr/2B), Maddie Carr (Fr/2B), Anna Powel (Fr/C)

Strengths/Question Marks:  “PW will rely on strong pitching, solid defense, and an experienced lineup to navigate a tough schedule. The one main question mark is who will step up offensively to fill the void left in the lineup left by Lauryn Kane’s absence, but all of the girls are up for the challenge.”

Outlook: “The pitching staff is anchored by two-time all-league pitcher Molly Moore (Holy Family commit), with Grace Carney (Gwynedd Mercy commit), Madison Moran and all-league DP Rian Reed also seeing time in the circle. The defense is strong up the middle with catcher Caelin Kosvitch, two-time all-league shortstop Marissa Perez (ESU commit), and all-league outfielders Sam Skivo and Kalina Childers. While having a young roster, consisting of just two seniors, PW has eight returning starters in the lineup which has helped with team chemistry.
As with every year, the main goal for the 2023 PW softball team is to continue improving throughout the season, hopefully leading to a league title, improved district ranking, and advancement in the postseason.”
