PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH SOFTBALL PREVIEW
Coach: Mike Perez (6th year)
Assistant coaches: Toni Washington, Liz Baginski, Emily Caffrey, John Van Wie
Last year’s record: 17-4 overall (15-1 in SOL Liberty Division); #6 seed in the PIAA District 1 6A standings; lost in 2nd round of PIAA District 1 6A tournament to CB West.
Notable losses: All-State SS Marissa Perez (East Stroudsburg University), All-Area OF Caelin Kosvitch (Iona University), All-Area 1B Sam Skivo (Babson College), All-Area Junior 2B Joslyn Perez (Kutztown University commit/Injury)
Key returners: Seniors - All-Area CF Kalina Childers (Thomas Jefferson University commit), All-Area P Rian Reed (Clarion University commit), All-League P Madison Moran (Rider University commit), 2023 All-League OF Jenna Yablon (returning from Injury), Juniors - All-State C Anna Powel & All-League OF Emily Dobrowolski (East Stroudsburg University commit for Field Hockey)
Others to watch: Ava McEvoy (Jr-P/Utility), Addie Antenucci (So-MI), Maddie Swift (So-Utility), Katie Dean (So-2B/OF), Gia Bono (Fr-3B/C), Zoey Robinson (Fr-SS)
Strengths/Question Marks: PW will rely heavily on the leadership of their upperclassmen, their team chemistry, and experienced lineup. They are returning five starters (and 10 players overall) from last year’s team that finished with a 15-1 record in the SOL Liberty Division to earn a share of the league title. Their pitching staff should be strong, returning both aces of their staff in the circle - seniors Rian Reed and Madison Moran - along with All-State battery-mate Anna Powel. The outfield defense should also be strong, returning All-Area CF Kalina Childers, All-League OF Emily Dobrolowski, and getting 2023 All-League OF (and team’s leader in Batting Average) Jenna Yablon back from injury.
The one big question mark will be who fills the defensive void up the middle after losing Senior All-State SS Marissa Perez (ESU) & Junior All-Area 2B Joslyn Perez (injury). The loss of Seniors 1B Sam Skivo (Babson) and OF Caelin Kosvitch (Iona) will also take a toll on the lineup and in the dugout. The team has a lot of rising stars ready to take on the challenge.
Outlook: “With a combination of experienced upperclassmen returning to the lineup, along with a mix of talented and eager underclassmen filling out the roster, the team looks to build off its first league title in over 15 years. After a devastating loss in the second round of the PIAA District 1 playoffs, the team feels like it has unfinished business to take care of. As with every year, the main goal for the 2025 Plymouth Whitemarsh softball team is to continue improving throughout the season, contending for both league and district titles and returning to the PIAA State playoffs after their 2023 appearance.”
