Last year’s record: 8-6 Suburban One League Continental Conference, 13-9 overall. The Indians lost 36-29 to Lower Merion in the first round of District One play-offs.
Key losses:
- Brittany Sandone, guard, Cabrini College
- Emily Price, guard/forward, Gwynedd Mercy College
- Jess Bard, forward, Suffolk University
- Averie Brittin, guard
- Liz Mower (injury)
Key returnees:
- Senior – Nicole Perna, guard
- Junior – Carley Kendall, forward
- Sophomore – Libby Wetzler, forward
Others to watch:
- Juniors – Steph Brown, forward; Lindsey Kwiatkowski, forward; Gabby McAndrews, guard; Erin Reagan, guard; Cait Steinly, guard
- Freshmen – Allison Gallagher, guard/forward; Katie O’Connor, guard; Bianca Picard, guard
Strengths:
- This team has an incredible work ethic, a desire to learn and get better and a genuine love of the game. The improved play of Carley Kendall and Libby Wetzler at the post positions create great threats on the offensive end. Defensively, the team is athletic and versatile.
Question marks:
- This is a young team with a lack of Varsity experience. With the loss of Liz Mower to injury, the team needs someone to fill her shoes both on and off the court. Because the team is so young, how quickly they build chemistry could have a big impact on its early success.
Outlook:
- “While the inexperience creates a lot of question marks, this team has shown in the first few weeks of the pre-season that it’s determined to improve and is not likely to get out-worked by its opponents. There is a ton of talent on this team. If the players continue to progress as they have been, it’s going to be a very good team that can compete with anyone.”
