Souderton Cross Country - Girls Preview (2010-2011)

SOUDERTON CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW

Head coach: Jim O’Neill (16th year)

Last year’s record: 2-8

Key losses:
Nicole Wasniewski, Hannah Webb, Taylor Young, Alexis Yoder, Grace Miorelli (soccer)

Key Returnees:
Leah Novak (SR) Danielle Connor (SR) Saralyn Knechel (SR) Melanie Tramontina (JR) Steph Dowd (SO) Natalie Ross (SO)

Others to watch:
Sarah Hughes (SO) Alyssa Qahash (FR) Alexa Schneider (FR) Jill Batten (FR)

Strengths:

“The core returning group has worked hard in the early season to make this rather inexperienced squad a cohesive team. The addition of some young athletes and new upperclassmen should provide depth behind the core group led by Tramontina and Dowd.”

Question Marks:

“With three quarters of the team being first or second year runners and the loss of a few varsity athletes to girls’ soccer, the team lacks a wealth of experience at the varsity level. That lack of experience also will not get many breaks in what should be a super competitive league schedule.”

Outlook:

“The early chemistry and work ethic of this team has been great, and they seem excited about the upcoming season. With so many new runners there should be a great deal of improvement throughout the season. I am really excited to see how much improvement will occur during the upcoming season!”
