SOUDERTON GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW
Coach: Jim O’Neill 18 years
Last year’s record: 2-5 league, 2-5 overall
Key losses: Melanie Tramontina, Maddie Goertel, Lyssa Scott, Liz Whitten
Key Returnees:
Steph Dowd (SR) Natalie Ross (SR) Sarah Hughes (SR) Jill Batten (JR) Alyssa Qahash (JR) Reaghan Murphy (SO) Hope Ferrebee (SO) Noelle Noble (SO) Natalie Bulgier (SO) Elizabeth Morris (SO)
Others to watch:
Tori Bulgier (JR) Jess Offner (JR) Amber Lambeth (SO) Tessa Edwards(FR) Cheyenne Scott (FR)
Strengths:
“The team will have unprecedented depth due to a record turnout of 34 runners, and although the team loses its top runner from a year ago through graduation, she is the only runner not returning from last year’s top ten. The team also has a solid group of proven seniors who will be counted on to lead a promising group of new talented young athletes.”
Question Marks:
“Although the team has depth, it will need to find some strong front runners to compete in the super competitive Continental Conference. Also, some proven runners are recovering from injuries and how fully they rebound will go a long way in determining how much this team can achieve.”
Outlook:
“There is some raw talent on this team, and hopefully the large team size will create some healthy competition which pushes everyone forward. With so many new runners there should be a great deal of improvement throughout the season.”
Coach’s comments:
“It’s a great group of girls and I am really excited to see if we can continue stepping forward!”
