UPPER DUBLIN PREVIEW
Coach: David Jones (11th as head coach, 13th overall at UDHS)
Last year’s record: 15-6 overall, 3-4 American Conference
Assistant coaches: Tom Hickey, Mike Little, Paul DiMuzio, Jeff Betteridge, Paul Felix, Pat Reiley.
Notable losses: Matt Gusick 125 co-captain, Brian Ego 145 co-captain.
Key returnees: Seniors – Nick DiMuzio 135, Ryan Hopkins 215, Corey Cohen 160; Juniors – Joey Fisher 112, Steve Volovar 130, Drew Betteridge 145, Brian Carson 171, Devon Doble 189, Yale Alpert 275; Sophomores – Jake Haney 125, Derek Jones 140, Sam Jacobson 152
Strengths: UD fields another young team. With eight sophomores returning with varsity experience, we are looking towards an exciting year. The team will be led by returning captain Nick DiMuzio who will be looking for his 100th win in mid-season. Nick, if healthy, also should shatter the existing school win record of 107 held by Even Smith by season’s end. We have a strong junior and sophomore class with every wrestler returning from a solid performance last year.
Question marks: Our dual meet competitions are down this year wrestling a total of 13 duals. We will have to wrestle tough within the league to insure a winning dual meet record.
Outlook: We field a solid team this year that can be competitive with anyone we wrestle. We continue to be young with a solid group of senior leaders. We bring higher expectations into this year than last.
