UPPER MERION GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

Coach:  Tony Funsten (19th year)

Last year’s record:  22-0, SOL American Conference champions for fifth straight year, District One champions for fourth time, finished fifth in PIAA Tournament

Notable losses:  Cassidy Koenig (three-time all-state setter), Heather Krick (MH), Kendall Gazzo (OH)

Key returners:  Casey Griffith (Sr., OH),Natalie O’Neil (Sr., Setter), Melanie Ingram (Jr., OH), Emily Shannon (Soph., Libero)

Others to watch:  Mimi Daniels (Jr., MH), Eryn Brady (Soph., MH), Niki Carpenter (Soph., MH), Ashley Shannon (Soph., DS)

Outlook:  “We are a little inexperienced, and that might show at times, but we will be very good defensively and competitively. We are looking to defend both our American Conference and District One titles.”
