William Tennent Girls' Soccer Preview

WILLIAM TENNENT GIRLS’ SOCCER PREVIEW

Coach: James Barry 2 Years

Assistant coach: Bill Hontz 2 Years

Last year’s record:  SOL 8-5-1 Overall 11-7-1

Notable losses:  Allysa Christianson (Holy Family), Leah Keyser and Kelly Burns.

Key returners:  Strong defense with all returning. Rachel McCabe (12), Kyla Gibson(11) and Erin Thompson(11) provide stability moving forward.  It’s nice to keep that backline intact and great to see how well they play together like triplets. Lauriel Krouse (11) as the third year varsity keeper really commands the field and has the talent to push to be the best keeper in the area.

Others to watch:  Nikki Reh (10) and Emily Wasserleben (12), both midfield players that work hard and never take a play off.  Shannon McGuinn (11) will look to direct the play up top and hopefully lead the league in goals and assists with her sophomore supporting cast Lynn O’Connor(10) and Ashley Rivera(10).

Strengths/Question Marks: “Maintaining the chemistry of a winning program with the youth movement (Freshmen/sophomore) showing that they can play in varsity games is very encouraging from pre-season scrimmages.”

Outlook:  “The team plans on continuing the winning tradition and moving forward in our very tough league.  Last year we made the playoffs and lost with 1.5 seconds left to a tough Spring-Ford team.  It did not sit well with the returning players and they are using that as motivation going forward.  It will be our last year with the current league grouping and we will miss the rivalries that we have had throughout the years.  It will be our farewell tour as we move throughout the season.”
