WISSAHICKON GIRLS’ LACROSSE PREVIEW

Coach:  David Schlesinger (1st year, 5 years coaching experience at Rancocas Valley and Eastern High Schools in South Jersey)

Assistant coach:  Mary Stutman (2nd year)

Last year’s record:  10-2 SOL, 11-7 overall

Key returners:
Laura Frankenfield (Sr., Attack)
Zoe Gomez (Jr., Attack)
Jackie Hibbs (Sr., Defense)
Julie Silverman (Soph., Goalkeeper)
Lauren Irvine (Soph., Midfield)
Ashley Laskowitz (Soph., Defense)
Bailey Weber (Jr., Defense)
Audrey Mack (Jr., Defense)
Rachel Zucker (Jr., Attack)
Taylor Jacobs (Jr., Midfield)

Others to watch:
Lindsay Andersen (Sr., Midfield)
Marie Dickson (Fr., Attack)
Shannon Stagliano (Fr., Attack)

Strengths:  Goal scoring ability from Frankenfield, Gomez and Irvine. Goalie play from Silverman.

Question marks:  Team defense, early season cohesiveness (given new coach)

Outlook:  “The goal of the team is to be competitive in every game. Won/loss record is secondary to seeing steady progression in the quality of lacrosse being played. Gearing more for an extended playoff run than early season success. Laura Frankenfield has 200-plus career goals; she is an extraordinary leader, and I expect a very special season from her. Gomez and Irvine should blossom offensively as will Silverman in goal. Success of the season will depend on the role players and how quickly they develop as varsity lacrosse players.”

Games to watch:
March 25 at Upper Dublin
March 27 versus Springfield (Montco)
April 18 versus Upper Dublin
April 23 at Springfield (Montco)
