WISSAHICKON SOFTBALL PREVIEW

Coach: Mike Borkowski- 10th Year

Assistant coach: Sarah Carney- 10th year.

Last year’s record: 6-14

Notable losses: Siena Miller (3b 1st Team All League)

Key returners: P Gianna Trerotola, SS Julia Lentz, P/OF Sydney Darnell, OF Ava Frederick, LF Giuliana Schumann, RF Dani Marra

Others to watch: New Freshmen 3b Juliet O’Farrell, C Tara Plover Sophomore 1b Riley McGarry and returning 2b Hailee Closs (injured last year).

Strengths:  Our defense is looking strong this year. We did a real good job in our two scrimmages. Gianna Trerotola is pitching well, and Syd Darnell has really looked good as our number two pitcher.

Question mark: How are we going to hit?

Outlook: “We have a great group of players, really good team-first players. We are looking to improve on last year’s record and hopefully make the playoffs. We took our lumps last year by playing a significant number of underclassmen with the intention of making the playoffs this year. We start one senior, two juniors and a combo of six sophomores and freshmen. We had a good offseason training program with good participation. The Coaches are very excited to see what we can do.”
