The Hatboro-Horsham Hatters defeated the Upper Moreland Golden Bears 5-1 on the road at The Field of Dreams on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Colin Kennedy earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year. In his first career varsity start, he went 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run on 5 hits and a walk, while striking out 4. Junior Joe Simmons closed out the win for the Hatters pitching a scoreless 7th inning, allowing one base runner on a walk.

Of the 5 hits that Kennedy allowed, three of them came off the bat of Golden Bear standout Charlie Hooker. Hooker was 3-3 on the day with 2 doubles. Colton Hooker was 1-3 and Chris Corr was 1-2 for Upper Moreland.

Dennis Long took the loss for UM. He pitched 5 innings and was charged with 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and 5 walks. Tommy Robinson pitched one inning allowing a run on one hit. Kyle Irwin, who played solid defense at SS for the first six innings, moved to the mound and pitched a scoreless 7th inning for the Golden Bears.

The Hatters offense was paced by juniors Chris Crookham and Eric Lane. Crookham was 2-4 with 2 RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored. Lane was 2-3 with 3 RBI. Eric Thomas added a double and walked twice for the visitors.

The Hatters (9-4 Overall, 6-2 SOL Continental) will go back to SOL Continental league action on Monday when they host Souderton (5-3 SOL Continental).
