Upper Moreland Comments
Upper Moreland won its 3rd game in a row to move to 6-6 on the season. Jimmy Torpey threw a complete game, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. Both runs scored in the top of the first on a leadoff single, stolen base, triple, and single. Torpey gave up 2 hits the rest of the way, striking out 7 over 79 pitches, 58 of which were strikes in picking up his 4th win of the season.

In the 4th, Jared McCellan doubled and Pat Kilgus was hit by a pitch on a 1-2 count to put runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out. Sean Dallahan singled up the middle on a 1-2 count to drive in McCellan, and Nate O'Connor doubled on another 1-2 count to drive in Kilgus and Dallahan to put UM up 3-2.

Paul Meyers walked to lead off the 5th, and courtesy runner Cole Carpenter scored on a double by Shawn Townsend to give UM a 2 run cushion that would eventually be the final score.

Coach's Quotes:

Jimmy Torpey was outstanding today, as I've come to expect from him. The kid competes and pounds the zone, changes speeds and makes pitches when he needs to. If he isn't an all-league player, I don't know what one looks like. He's going to make a college coach very happy in a couple years!

Again we were led by our seniors Dallahan and O'Connor, two huge clutch hits with 2 strikes put us up for good. As a team we talk about two strike approaches and how we need to put the ball in play, and those guys came through for us big time today. I couldn't be happier for them and their families!

We need to keep winning to get where we want to be, and with our leadership and team camaraderie there's no limit to what we can do. Especially when we don't strike out 10+ times in games! It's all in front of us and we control our own destiny!
