“Really happy for the girls, and the program, South girls hasn’t beaten North since my asst (Alexis Hofstaedter) was there, so mentally for our girls it’s a good hurdle to clear. The games for the most part have been fairly lopsided with the exception of last year at our place. North returned the favor this year by throwing everything at us they had. Jim and his asst, Jack are doing a good job there and do a really good job of preparing for teams. They’re playing a lot of young girls and it’ll pay off. We have been in that spot, and still play a lot of young girls. It’s a good experience. My staff and girls deserve a ton of credit. Nick Heim brought a suggestion to the table in preparation for this game that we typically don’t do, between he and I we tweaked some things to what it was and the girls did great job implementing it. Alexis and Tom have been working hard with the girls in break downs and the girls are buying into some things. And it’s girls from all grade levels it’s been fun and we just need to keep improving daily. We can enjoy tonight and in school
Tomorrow but we need to focus on Truman as soon as practice starts (coaches are already starting game planning). I ask a lot of the girls in terms of grasping things, multiple spots etc and to their credit they focus on it and give maximum effort the majority of time. Nicole and Carley were disruptive all night defensively. I thought Carley player her best all around game in three years- strong floor game, hit clutch FTs, big three, defended well. Nicole probably played her best defensive game of the year very active, steals,
Deflections hustle plays, extra possessions. Hannah has a good spurt in the second half, and Jenna was steady all game on both ends of the floor. Montanna made some big plays as well, she’s been so important making good basketball plays and not just focused on being one dimensional. She had a huge hustle play in first half. I thought Ryann gave us great minutes in the first half and has stayed solid for us and solidified our rotation a bit. I thought both halves Karissa gave us a spark especially on defense and 50/50 balls. Overall it was a great team effort and win. I’ve told the girls all preseason and so far it’s a lot harder to prepare for us if we have good balance scoring and we did that tonight. I’m happy and proud of the girls and if we continue with the get better every day mindset and take it one
