“Obviously the games with North always carry a little more weight. I am not a CR person in terms of alum or anything but I’ve worked here long enough and have been coaching here long enough to understand the importance of the games to our girls, both programs, to the schools, and the communities. The added incentive from my perspective was they came in here last year, without Jaden and beat us and ultimately kept us from playoffs. So you always expect a battle. We did not have our traditional Varsity doubleheader as previous couple years, but I thought our girls did a great job creating energy from the opening tip. Actually, truth be told, I thought our JV girls did a GREAT job implementing what we talked about in film and at practice yesterday and Varsity carried it over.  The energy on the floor to start tonight and on the bench was great. We had close to double digit deflections and turnovers forced in the first quarter. Our defensive activity was really good, Lil Bross and KP were really active on ball, Cam did a great job jumping passing lanes and Mia and Smed’s rotations were very strong. Our bench matched the energy, we played 11 in the first half because we were playing a such a strong pace and felt we could wear them down. Mia Stocks defense has been really really good, Reese did not score a FG w her guarding her last game and Hamilton killed us last year (double double)and she went scoreless tonight. She’s also rotating well in half court defense and protecting the rim, she’s been very coachable with how we are defending each game. As a group they really bought into the game plan the last two games, we just played as the aggressor tonight and dictated the physicality. We forced over 25 turnovers and rebounded well. We shot 80% from the line and really well in the second half from the line. Aside from a 3 minute spurt in the 4th we
Took care Of the ball. i thought KP and Cam were really active defensively and in passing lanes and KP was all over the backboard as well. Delaney is really good for them, she has improved her jumper and I thought Bross defended her drives well, she got loose on a couple screens and hit threes, she’s a tough player with a bright future. Smedley was really good for us, I think she let the game come to her a little more tonight, she has gone from being  a role player to a top of the other teams scout report type player and she’s answering the bell. She had a double double tonight and impacted both ends of the floor. Our bench was ready to play for whatever duration they were needed and we
Got some contributions from a lot of girls. I’m really excited for them, they bounced back after a Neshaminy, applied what we talked about it film and practice, they trusted the game plan and more importantly, trusted one another and that’s big for a team that doesn’t have a ton of varsity experience. Based off of all the information passed onto me this is the first time South has beaten North at South since 2012 I believe, so I’m really happy for the girls. Told them to enjoy it tonight and be ready for a short turnaround tomorrow, we got an early bus ride to go play at New Foundations.
