We need to either find a way to get Dani named the Univest Athlete of the Week every week, or somehow get the whole team named co-athletes of the week. Dani was one steal away from a triple double - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 9 steals, and was the main primary reason we were able to beat a Springfield team that played well and would not go away.
The coaches at Springfield are doing a really nice job with their roster. Ava Culler had her usual 22 point 20+ rebound game against us, but it was the rest of the team that really has improved since we last played them. For close to 3 quarters, every time we would threaten to open up the lead, they would battle back. Credit to Springfield for continuing to play hard and compete.
On our end we had started off slow, made a run to close out the first quarter, but that did not carry over. In the 2nd quarter we did not play well defensively and at half time we challenged them to step up their game and the girls responded.
In addition to Dani, Mady Rossiter played well the entire game. She had 8 early points and really battled on the boards and Bri McFerran, who had to sit a lot in the first half because of foul trouble had 8 points in the 3rd quarter to help get us back on track.
